Learn a few simple ways to repair and refresh your knit garments!
This workshop is designed for beginners or anyone wanting to learn approachable and useful methods to extend the life of their favourite pieces — no knitting experience required. The focus is on simple repairs rather than technical knitting techniques!
In this interactive session, we’ll look at examples of knit repairs and explore a small range of methods including darning, patching with fleece, and using simple embroidery stitches to reinforce or add detail to worn areas. You’ll learn practical and useful techniques that you can continue using at home.
What you’ll get:
· All workshop materials (including needles, yarn and patching materials).
· Basic knit repair notes.
· Ideas and inspiration from not only your facilitator Elise, but from others in the room — you’ll find this part invaluable!
What to bring:
· Knit garments (jumpers, cardigans, socks, scarves) that need repairing.
· Tennis ball or orange to use as a “darning mushroom” and large elastic band.
· Optional: yarn or materials you’d like to incorporate (if you have a certain colour scheme to consider)
· Your imagination and willingness to have a go!
