What time of year is best to book my collection for? It’s best to book well in advance to secure your preferred date. Between March and September will usually have the most choice of bookable dates, while warmer months, October to February, tend to fill up quickly. We aim for two (2) to four (4) week wait times and are adapting our service regularly to meet this.
Why are there no available dates to book? Please make sure you have first entered your address into the booking form.
Your location will determine which days of the week are available to book (you might be able to book fortnightly Mondays only, for example), so please also check 4 to 6 weeks into the future for available dates. We aim for standard wait times of 4 weeks.
Why can I only book fortnightly on Mondays/Tuesdays/Wednesdays... etc? We have ‘zoned’ our community into nine (9) collection areas and allocated each zone a particular day during a fortnightly route. For example, if you live in Leeming’s ‘zone’, you will be able to book fortnightly on Mondays. When booking, make sure you check weeks in advance for more available dates.
‘Zoning’ our collections like this helps our service remain efficient and reduces emissions and time constraints. The table below describes our different zones and collection days. Still, the best way to check which dates are available to you is during the booking process.

Recycling verge collection material - does it happen? While some types of waste are more recyclable than others, many materials collected by our verge collection team are ‘recovered’ (which means ‘recycled’). Even still, it's best for you to find ways to rehome items (see our above advice on this page) and only use verge collections as a last resort for end-of-life items.
If you use our verge collections, your items will follow the journey as follows:
E-waste
E-waste is collected in our flat-bed truck and taken to our Operations Centre, Murdoch, for short-term stockpiling. We collect an approximate average of 258 e-waste items at an average of 1,945kg per month. It is then picked up by Total Green Recycling for processing at their Welshpool facility. Total Green Recycling recovers approximately 83% of material - mostly metals, glass and hazardous components like embedded batteries and circuit boards. White goods
White goods, such as fridges and washing machines, are collected in our flat-bed truck and taken to our Operations Centre, Murdoch, for short-term stockpiling. They are then de-gassed and picked up by Sims Metal for processing at their Kwinana facility. Sims Metal recovers around 70% of this material (mostly light gauge steel components) at an average of 8,800kg per month from our verge collection service. Mattresses
Mattresses are collected in our flat-bed truck and taken to our Operations Centre, Murdoch, for short-term stockpiling. We collect an approximate average of 202 mattresses per month. They’re then collected by Perth Mattress & Furniture Recycling Company for processing at their Welshpool facility. Perth Mattress & Furniture Recycling recover up to80% of material from mattresses, including springs for scrap, timber for industrial mulch or engineered timber, and foam for carpet underlay. General bulk waste
We collect an approximate average of 133 tonnes of mixed bulk verge waste per month. This waste is typically loaded into a rear-loader waste truck and delivered directly to Veolia’s Bibra Lake facility for processing. Veolia recovers approximately 31% of this material – mostly scrap metal, fines and timber. Excess is sent to landfill at Veolia North Bannister Resource Recovery Park. Garden organics waste
Green waste is collected in a rear-loader FOGO truck and taken directly to the Resource Recovery Group Canning Vale FOGO processing facility (the same place as your FOGO bin waste). We collect an approximate average of 120 tonnes per month with materials recovery being close to 100%.
How do I cancel and re-book a collection? You can cancel your collection via the link in your booking confirmation email no later than seven (7) days before your booked collection date.
If you don't have a booking confirmation email, or if it's less than seven days before your booked date, please contact our Customer Relations team. We will always try to accommodate you.
Once we've confirmed your booking cancellation, you can re-book online or over the phone.
I missed my collection; can I book another? We do not refund or reallocate missed collections, unless it is due to emergency.
If you've missed a collection due to emergency, please
contact our Customer Relations team and be ready to provide evidence of some kind (e.g. a doctor's note, a police report).
I live in apartments / units or don't have a verge; can I still have a collection? Yes! Cases like this require a little more organising, so we ask that you
contact our Customer Relations team directly so our verge collection team can coordinate a date with you and give special any instruction.
If you live in apartments or units, have your strata contact us to organise a group collection.
Why did we change from a scheduled verge collection service to a booked service? In 2024 we transitioned to a bookable verge collection system to:
- Provide collections when the community need it, at a date convenient to them, rather than people holding onto things (or scrambling to find things) to throw out when we visit their area.
- Encourage people to participate in the circular economy by rehoming items. Landfill is our last resort while your items still have use.
- Have more oversight and control for better compliance, safety and reporting transparency by running the service fully in-house.
- Lessen illegal dumping opportunities by non-residents.
Will I receive a skip bin? - No, you will not receive a skip bin of any kind. Items should be placed directly on the verge.
How far in advance can I put my waste out for collection? To avoid illegal dumping by others on your verge, we recommend placing items out within 48 hours of your scheduled booking (where possible).
Your waste must be ready for collection on your verge by latest 6.00am on your booked day.
