Keen to explore the culture, art and cuisine of rural Japan?

Planning on exploring rural Japan? Join us for an evening with well-seasoned traveller Lorna Kaino and discover the best way to go for the independent traveller.

Lorna will discuss various strategies for planning a trip to rural Japan, with specific reference to Western Honshu. You will learn how you can be rewarded with easier access to cultural practices, arts, crafts, gardens and fresh regional cuisine by going to lesser-known places. These rural destinations are much less crowded and are relatively easy to negotiate.

Lorna will give you useful tips on etiquette, food and convenient travel. She will provide a suggested itinerary based on the many trips that she has made to Western Honshu.

Throughout her talk Lorna will refer to stories and haiku (short verse) from her book, Travels with Haiku. This book will be for sale for $10.00 at the presentation. All proceeds will go to CARAD, which is a Perth based organisation that supports refugees.
