U.K. gay activists work to help miners during their lengthy strike of the National Union of Mineworkers in the summer of 1984.

Inspired by actual events, Pride details the unlikely alliance forged between a small community of striking miners in Wales and the London-based gay-and-lesbian activists who raise funds to feed their families in the summer of 1984. This session is presented by film buff, Michael O’Rourke as part of our Movies that bring us together series.

This event is a Community Cohesion initiative funded through the Australian Library and Information Association, in partnership with the Office for Social Cohesion and supported by the Australian Public Library Alliance.
