A UWA devised exhibition exploring the fascinating and often overlooked history of Chinese Australians

The City of Melville is privileged to collaborate with the University of Western Australia and the Chung Wah Association in a special presentation of Making Home Under Southern Skies.

Spanning almost 200 years, this exhibition explores stories of migration, enterprise, family life and cultural traditions, revealing the many ways Chinese Australians have shaped the State’s identity across generations.

Melville is home to a large and thriving Chinese Australian community, whose histories form an important part of the area’s social fabric. In hosting this exhibition, the City of Melville hopes to bring to light more of the fascinating stories that contribute to making Melville a vibrant and diverse place to live.
