Join us for the Special Meeting of Electors to be held on Tuesday, 23 June 2026 commencing at 6:00pm in the Kambarang (Conference Room) at the Melville Civic Centre, 10 Almondbury Road, Booragoon.
The request for Special Meeting of Electors, signed by 410 electors, will be held for the purpose of considering the John Connell Cricket Pitch Project, including the following matters:
- The proposed clearing of approximately 209 mature native trees and 0.68 hectares of remnant native vegetation at John Connell Reserve.
- The absence of a clearly demonstrated strategic need for the proposed cricket pitch expansion.
- Reliance on potentially outdated cost estimates and the absence of secured external funding.
- Potential financial impacts on future rates, borrowings and capital works priorities.
- Insufficient assessment of alternative options that may avoid or substantially reduce environmental impacts.
- Concerns regarding governance processes, transparency and evidence-based decision making.

Online Public Broadcast
The City’s public council meetings are recorded and live streamed in accordance with the City’s Council Policy CP-088 Live Streaming and Audio-Visual Recordings of Public Meetings of the Council.
The live streaming of Meetings is conducted in accordance with Regulation 14H of the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996 and is to include audio and video of the proceedings.
Meetings or parts of Meetings closed for consideration of matters under Section 5.23 of the Local Government Act 1995 will not be streamed, however an audio recording will be kept. This recording will not be accessible to members of the public.
In the event of technical difficulties, livestreaming may not be available or may be delayed, however the meeting may proceed. In this case, the City is required to publish the reason the meeting was unable to be broadcast on the City of Melville website within 14 days of the meeting taking place.
