31 May 2026

This event will bring together youth (aged 16-25) to make a difference for our local environment in an inclusive and low barrier to entry setting to help rehabilitate Cockatoo habitats.

This month is planting!

Western Australia has some of the most incredible and diverse wildlife in the world, including the Ngoolarks (Carnaby’s cockatoos), which are endemic to the Southwest. As habitat destruction is driving our Ngoolarks towards extinction, it’s critical to look after their remaining food sources. The Cockatoo Rehabilitation site at Piney Lakes is being revegetated with the species to support Ngoolarks.

As young people, it’s up to us to protect our wild spaces for our future. This event will bring together youth (aged 16-25) to make a difference for our local environment in an inclusive and low barrier to entry setting by planting native trees and shrubs the Cockatoo Rehabilitation site.

We’ll be guided by a facilitator who’ll share knowledge with the group about the area and how to weed effectively. After the event, there will be an informal picnic with catering for the group.

We'll meet at the front of the EcoHub at 10am, then walk to the Cockatoo Rehabilitation site together. Make sure to wear long pants and closed in shoes and follow our Instagram @rewild_our_world_landcare for updates on the day.
