Celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories with Blak Dingo Club and a FREE movie night - Putuparri and The Rainmakers edition!

This May and June, we’re proud to collaborate with Blak Dingo Club to present a free film series, book club and quiz night in honour of National Reconciliation Week (27 May - 3 June).

Join us each week as we celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander film history, actors, filmmakers, producers and stories.

For this session, we’re screening Putuparri and The Rainmakers – a universal story about the sacred relationship between people and place.

Putuparri is a man caught between two worlds: the deeply spiritual universe of his people's traditional culture and his life in modern society where he struggles with alcoholism and domestic violence. As he reconnects with his ancestral lands and learns about his traditional culture he begins to accept his future as a leader of his people and shoulders his responsibility to pass this knowledge on to the next generation.

Set against the backdrop of their long fight to reclaim their traditional lands, Putuparri and the Rainmakers is an emotional, visually breathtaking story of love, hope and the survival of Aboriginal law and culture against all odds.

Short film Green Bush will be screened before the main feature.

Free popcorn and hot drinks provided!

Feel free to BYO extra movie snacks and drinks. Stemless wineglasses only please!

This is a free event, but registration is essential as capacity is limited.
