Celebrate Worldwide Knit in Public Day at the library and learn some fascinating knitting history!

Why was it illegal to mail a knitting pattern overseas during World War I? Why did William Lee think inventing the knitting machine would earn him a bride (and was he right?) Which celebrities and historical figures have been spotted knitting and crocheting?

Learn some fascinating facts about the history of knitting and crochet in celebration of Worldwide Knit in Public Day with amateur knitter, crocheter and history nerd, Emily Paull.

Bring along your projects to work on as you enjoy the presentation, or source yourself some knitting needles and yarn if you’re keen to have a go.

While there won’t be a knitting lesson included in the presentation, we will have some resources available for you to teach yourself using books, Youtube videos and more.

Presentation will run from 10.00am to 11.00am with one hour of social knitting/ crocheting to follow.
