A fresh new playground is coming to Warwick Wild Park

Last Updated: 13 May 2026

The playground at Warwick Wild Park will soon undergo renewal as part of the City’s ongoing program, and we invited the community to help choose the new design.

Four exciting playground designs were developed, each offering a different mix of play experiences. Families were encouraged to get involved together and chat about which option looked the most fun. Voting closed midnight Sunday, 3 May 2026.

Additional improvements will also be delivered as part of the upgrade, including the relocation of a seat and increased tree planting to enhance shade and amenity within the park.

FAQs

This project is being funded as part of the City’s capital works program. The available budget for this project is limited.

The local community votes determine the final outcome. Where results fall within a five-vote margin, the City reviews the consultation findings, along with financial and technical considerations, and determines the final outcome.

As part of the playground upgrade, the community could have a say on the playground equipment and overall design. Additional improvements, including a new swing, relocation of a seat and increased tree planting, will also be delivered as part of the project. Elements such as shade sails and toilets were not included in this scope.

The type and level of infrastructure provided at each park is guided by its size, intended use, and classification within the City’s park hierarchy. Warwick Wild Park is classified as a local park.

The hierarchy of parks within the City reflect state documentation/strategies. These classifications are based on the number of anticipated visitors and the distance they are drawn from:

  • District parks - people will attend from over two kilometres
  • Neighbourhood parks - residents from 800 metres
  • Local parks - residents from approximately 400 metres
  • Pocket parks - incidental green spaces around the City.

The distribution of district, neighbourhood and local parks allows us to have a balanced level of the quality of space across the City.
