Flood lighting is being proposed on courts 11-14 at Applecross Tennis Club, 30 The Strand, Applecross. The floodlights will automated to shut off no later than 10.00pm every night.

The public comment period closed at 4.00pm, Monday 13 February 2023. Who did we engage with? The City engaged with the broader public via the City of Melville website. The application was advertised via two signs on-site and letters sent to the adjoining property owners and residents.

What will happen with the information from the online form? A summary of the relevant planning concerns will be provided to the DBCA for their consideration.
Who is the decision maker? This application has been referred to the City by the DBCA for comment.
Given the location of the proposal, the decision maker for this application is the Minister for Environment under the Swan and Canning Rivers Management Act 2006.
How is the development assessed by the CIty? The proposed development is located on the MRS Parks and Recreation zoned land.
The City responsibility therefore is to provide the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) with a referral response as required for a Part 5 application under the Swan and Canning Rivers Management Act.
The City is not the decision maker of this application.
Why is the City advertising this application? As per the City of Melville's Local Planning Policy 1.1 - Planning Process and Decision Making, the City is seeking comments on the proposal in terms of possible impacts on adjoining owners and occupiers.
What happens with community submissions? Comments from the consultation have been considered and taken into account with the City's recommendation (including summarising the submissions received) to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
