The Canning Bridge area has a wide range of cultural, civic, natural and community assets used by the local community, and attracts visitors from across Perth. The resident and worker populations of Canning Bridge are anticipated to grow significantly over the coming decades, which will place pressure on the area and require provision of additional public spaces, infrastructure, facilities, programs and services to meet community needs and aspirations.

Canning Bridge Precinct Vision Statement

The Canning Bridge area will evolve to become a unique, vibrant, creative community centred on the integrated transport node of the Canning Bridge station. The area will be recognised by its unique location, its integrated mix of office, retail, residential, recreational and cultural uses that create areas of excitement, the promotion of its local heritage and as a pedestrian friendly enclave that integrates with the regional transport networks while enhancing the natural attractions of the Swan and Canning Rivers.

Traffic Disruptions 

As we roll out our vision there will be some road disruptions in the Canning Bridge area due to Water Corporation wastewater infrastructure upgrades, and other large projects. For more information visit the Canning Bridge Area Disruptions page.

Canning Bridge Place Grants

Our Canning Bridge Place Grants program provides grants of up to $30,000 for events, activities and improvements in the Canning Bridge Activity Centre precinct that help activate and create a safer and more vibrant area for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

Applications for the 2023/24 program opened on Monday, 9 October and will close on Tuesday, 30 April 2024.  For more information see our Canning Bridge Place Grants page.

Applecross Town Team

The Applecross Town Team are a group of local residents and businesses working together to create a sense of community and get to know their neighbours with events in the community.

Community Facilities

  • The Cirque Business Centre is the ideal co-working space for anyone looking for a short-term place to do some work or hold a meeting in a quiet environment. For more information see our Cirque Business Centre page.

     

     

  • The room is available for hire for community use for meetings, functions events and more.   • The Canning Bridge Express Library offers a convenient space for dropping off borrowed items, picking up requested items and selecting items form a range or popular quick pick titles for loan. There are a wide range of cultural attractions on offer at the Canning Bridge precinct, including stunning artworks, riverside walking paths, rowing, heritage buildings and more.

  • Did you know there are 17 unique public artworks that stretch the foreshore from Point Heathcote to Mount Henry Bridge? The Canning Bridge Precinct features a number of mural artworks by Western Australian artists and addresses some of the precinct artwork aspirations and site-specific considerations from our Public Art Strategy.

    Walk through the precinct to discover a range of works, some prominent and some hidden in the back alleys and car parks, or use the map below to see the locations of each mural. For more information on murals and public art, take a look at our Public Art page, or check out the videos from our 2021 and 2022 artists on YouTube.
     

     

  • The Tivoli Theatre in Applecross is an Art Deco theatre that was built in 1934, it is the home of the Tivoli Club of WA. The community theatre group often puts on a variety of shows suitable for all ages to enjoy. 
  • With the beautiful Swan River flowing between the Canning Bridge Activity Centre, why not get involved in the sport of rowing! Contact Rowing WA, Perth Rowing Club and Swan River Rowing Club for more information.

Canning Bridge Activity Centre Place Brand

The ‘At Canning Bridge’ logo and style guide was developed as a place brand for the precinct to give it an image and identity.
