Canning Bridge

The Canning Bridge area has a wide range of cultural, civic, natural and community assets used by the local community, and attracts visitors from across Perth. The resident and worker populations of Canning Bridge are anticipated to grow significantly over the coming decades, which will place pressure on the area and require provision of additional public spaces, infrastructure, facilities, programs and services to meet community needs and aspirations.

From this page you can learn more about what’s happening and what’s on offer at the Canning Bridge Activity Centre, the precinct surrounding Canning Bridge Station and comprises land within both the City of Melville and the City of South Perth.

Canning Bridge Art Trail

Canning Bridge Precinct Murals

In late 2021, we commissioned a series of typography based mural artworks in four locations in the Canning Bridge precinct. Typography is the technique of arranging type or letters and numbers, and was designed to reference the site which is a busy, car-dominated urban streetscape. The intention was for the typographic artwork to create points of interest and moments of contemplation or pause for motorists and pedestrians.

This mural art project addresses some of the precinct artwork aspirations and site-specific considerations of our Public Art Strategy for the Canning Bridge precinct.

The four murals artists and their locations are:

  • Sam Bloor – 904 Canning Highway (Stephen Pratt’s Office)
  • Luke O’Donohoe – 15 Kishorn (Clancy’s)
  • Chris Nixon – 886 Canning Highway
  • Andrew Frazer – 900 Canning Highway

Canning Bridge Activity Centre Place Brand

The ‘At Canning Bridge’ logo and style guide was developed as a place brand for the precinct to give it an image and identity. The designs have elements of local recreational activities mainly featuring the river and the natural environment. See the ‘At Canning Bridge’ style guide for the place branding.

If you would like to use any of the resources, please get in touch with Kylie MacPherson, Place Officer.
