A swim wall is a structure which is inflated to reconfigure the 50 metre pool lanes to smaller 25 metre sections. By filling the wall with air, the structure moves from the bottom of the pool into a vertical position. This allows for the flexibility of lane availability and the opportunity to provide recreational and lap lanes during peak periods of programming. The 50 metre pool will be able to be split into five lanes and three lane sections as required. When the wall is not in use it will lay flat on the bottom of the pool.
Yes. When the swim wall is not in operation there will be 50 metre lanes available for lap swimming. The pool configuration will only change when the swim wall is in operation. During this time there will be a minimum of 3 x 25 metre lanes available for lap swimming.
The swim wall will provide better access and accommodation of recreation swimmers, inflatables, bookings, and lap lane swimmers. Where bookings would usually occupy half a lane, the other half of the lane will now be able to be utilised by other swimmers. We can also accommodate other user groups to provide an array of services to the City of Melville.
