The program invites local artists to present a wide-ranging selection of art films, classics, and new wave cinema. Curated by iconic Boorloo film critic Tristan Fidler, the creator of the celebrated local VHS Tracking film zine, and hosted by Goolugatup Gallery monthly.
In this edition, the band Didion’s Bible will be presenting a special double feature of Detour (1945) and Sherlock, Jr (1924).

DETOUR (1945) – 1hr, 7mins
From Poverty Row came a movie that, perhaps more than any other, epitomizes the dark fatalism at the heart of film noir. As he hitchhikes his way from New York to Los Angeles, a down-on-his-luck nightclub pianist finds himself with a dead body on his hands and nowhere to run--a waking nightmare that goes from bad to worse when he picks up the most vicious femme fatale in cinema history, Ann Savage's snarling, monstrously conniving drifter Vera.
Working with no-name stars on a bargain-basement budget, B-movie auteur Edgar G. Ulmer turned threadbare production values and seedy, low-rent atmosphere into indelible pulp poetry.
SHERLOCK, JR (1924) – 44 mins
Perhaps no other film offers as exciting a rollercoaster ride through the golden age of comedy than Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr. Dramatizing the uproarious exploits of a meek theatre projectionist turned amateur sleuth, the film blends the knockabout physical comedy normally associated with more subtly crafted moments of humour -- such as the sequence in which Buster leaps through the silver screen and lands in the midst of the action. Packed within its modest 45 minutes is enough comic material for several ordinary features, but Keaton chooses to compress it all into a dazzling display of cinematic inventiveness that races along like the driver-less motorcycle hurtling through a traffic-clogged city in the film's unforgettable climax -- with a stone-faced Buster perched obliviously on the handlebars.

Described as ‘a band with a stupendous amount of energy and devotion to their performance’ Didion’s Bible shows are a force to behold. Serving as the shared songwriting outlet for frontmen Drew Krapljanov and Laurent Shervington, the pair have cultivated an infamy for their combination of bizarre, witty lyricism and unmatched onstage passion, flanked by some of Boorloo’s most seasoned instrumentalists.
In 2025, the band released "Yours Truly, DB" a high energy 12-track debut album that brings the trademark Didion’s Bible live performance to the record, in no small part due to the talents of recording engineer Michael Jelinek (Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Sly Withers, The Growl). The album is full of Krapljanov and Shervington’s classic lyrical style of obscure arthouse film and music references, while always returning to a place of unapologetic sincerity. The band have since completed a national tour for the album, bringing their sound to Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
