About Live Streaming
At the Ordinary Meeting of Council (OMC) held on Tuesday, 17 September 2024, the Council adopted the updated CP-088 Live Streaming and Audio-Visual Recordings of Public Meetings of the Council and approved the live broadcasting of public Council Meetings. This is in response to section 58 of the local Government Amendment Act 2023 coming into effect from January 2025, requiring class 1 local governments, which includes the City of Melville, to live stream the audio-visual of public meetings of Council.
Following the November OMC, this will mean that the City will transition away from using Zoom broadcasts (requires prior registration to watch). Instead, the City will broadcast live to YouTube. This will not require registration and the recording will remain available to watch on YouTube after the meeting ends.
When will live streaming come into effect?
The first live stream will be conducted at the December Agenda Briefing Forum (ABF) on Tuesday, 3 December 2024. This will be the City’s first live test prior to the legislative requirements taking effect in January 2025.
