The outer path is lit with the solar lighting. Unfortunately, this does suffer in the winter months with limited brightness and longevity due to the reduction in sunlight and the location of the poles under the shade of trees.
We are investigating the best method moving forward to ensure path lighting is maintained in all seasons.

DIY Bike Jumps
Following passionate advocacy from local kids and families for additional biking infrastructure in the City of Melville, the City has authorised new DIY bike jumps at Shirley Strickland Reserve.
As a community driven initiative, the maintenance of this infrastructure will be led by those using the space. The conditions of use for these DIY jumps are:
- Look out for other riders, keep each other safe.
- Take all tools home.
- Take care not to damage any trees or plants.
- Don’t use the paths as a run-up or starting point, this keeps people safe.
- Respect other park visitors and neighbours of the park.
- The DIY jumps are for use during daylight hours only.
- All rubbish needs to be taken home or disposed of in the bin.
- DIY jumps are only for the authorised area.
- Please don’t exit the jumps directly into the carpark.
- We are here to work with you, let us know if you need help.
