Dyoondalup Bike Park

The mountain bike track facility at Dyoondalup Point Water Reserve provides a dedicated space for local riders of all experience levels to enjoy.

The facility includes three flow trails, a jump park and pump track to cater for a diverse range of biking, with green, blue and black-coded trails for differing skill levels.
Three jump lines have been designed and built in accordance to the nationally governing standards of the Trail Difficult Rating Systems.

The park includes considerable signage to highlight that riders should ride within their ability and progress to more advanced stages only when they are adequately competent at the lower levels, and on bikes that are appropriately built and maintained for those necessary features.

Mountain biking has grown exponentially within the suburbs of Perth. Increasing activity within our natural areas and parks has identified the lack of suitable facilities within the City of Melville for mountain bike enthusiasts, particularly our youth.

Dyoondalup Point Walter Reserve was identified as the preferred location due to a number of factors including:
  • the area was already being used informally and it made sense to formalise this use whilst addressing any potential access, safety, environmental and conflict issues
  • the area is well suited to establishing a small mountain bike track due to the local topography and the relatively isolated location of the facility
  • the area proposed for the track is a degraded section of the reserve with low priority for revegetation in the future, and is currently slashed annually and managed as degraded parkland
  • the mountain bike use would complement existing recreational facilities and amenities at the Point Walter Reserve
  • the site contains mature trees and a bushland setting, which is attractive for mountain biking activities
  • the site has a suitable level of public supervision, thereby minimising the occurrence of anti-social behaviour.
