Fire Break and Hazard Reduction Notice 2026-2027

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, all owners and occupiers of land situated within the City of Melville are required to carry out the fire prevention works specified in this Notice on or before 1 November 2026, or within 14 days of becoming the owner or occupier of land after that date, and to maintain those works up to and including 30 April 2027.

Dyoondalup Point Walter viewing platforms temporarily closed

The viewing platforms at Dyoondalup Point Walter are temporarily closed from 17 August 2026 until late November while essential maintenance works are completed.
The platforms will be removed to complete the repairs and reinstalled once works are complete.
For your safety, please stay clear of the closed areas and follow any onsite signage.

H5 bird flu has been detected in Western Australia. If you notice multiple sick or dead birds or other animals, you should not touch them or get too close. Avoid contact. Record what you see. Report it to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

Bring a garment with a hole or tear and learn the art of visible mending through simple hand-stitching. Leave with your own complimentary mending kit.

Libraries Waste Sustainability and environment All-ages Family Friendly

Learn the art of visible mending through simple hand-stitching and patching techniques, giving your worn or damaged garments a new lease on life. Bring along a garment with a small hole, worn area or tear, or just learn from one of the samples provided by the facilitator, Selina of Positively Sew. You’ll receive a take-home mending kit complete with needles, threads, pins, a selection of fabric patches and a printed mending guide!

At approximately 10.45am, we'll move together to the Creative Lab to join the Great Global Mend crowd, ready to take part in the 11.00am world record textile repair attempt, as part of the Circular Fashion Festival. We'll then have time to continue mending, ask questions and connect with others until midday.

Morning tea, coffee and tea will be provided. Positively Sew will have comprehensive mending kits available for purchase on the day.

Workshop will take place inside Meeting Room 2 at AH Bracks Library + Creative Space.
