H5 bird flu has been detected in Western Australia. If you notice multiple sick or dead birds or other animals, you should not touch them or get too close. Avoid contact. Record what you see. Report it to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

Queensland fruit fly (Qfly) detection
Qfly has been detected in the suburbs of Como and South Perth. The City of Melville is in the orange zone of the Quarantine Area meaning:
Host fruit and fruiting vegetables must not be moved outside of the Orange Zone unless they have been treated.
Host fruit and fruiting vegetables moving within the Orange Zone or into the Red Zone must be maintained under secure conditions (covered, in packaging, fully enclosed or screened buildings) to ensure the produce does not become infested.

In the 40th annual Murdoch Lecture, historian Professor Sandra Wilson explores how wartime maps became powerful tools of both propaganda and military strategy, communicating vulnerability, victory and visions of a new regional order.
