Byte-Size Beginnings: Technology Storytime - Investigation - Pilot Session

+ Add to calendar

15 September 2026

Byte-Size Beginnings is a hands-on technology Storytime for children aged 3–5 years and their families.

Discover how technology can inspire creativity, imagination, and storytelling while supporting your child's early learning. Each session explores a different interactive tech tool through stories, play, and creative activities that help build literacy, language, motor, and early STEAM skills.

Designed for parents and caregivers as well as children, Byte-Size Beginnings also demonstrates how digital technology can be a positive, purposeful part of family learning and provides ideas for choosing age-appropriate digital resources. Join us each week to explore, create, play, and learn together.

Pilot Session 1: Investigation

Curiosity begins with looking closely at the world around us. In this session, families will use wireless microscopes, magnifying glasses, and binoculars to investigate natural treasures such as leaves, flowers, feathers, and bugs, encouraging children to observe, describe, and ask questions about what they discover. Parents and caregivers will also explore how simple technology can inspire curiosity, support language development, and nurture early STEAM learning through everyday exploration.

Byte-Size Beginnings is a unique Storytime program that combines reading, singing, and hands-on technology-based learning through play, designed for families with children aged 3-5. Byte-Size Beginnings officially launches in Term 3, but join us for this special pilot session.

These sessions were made possible by the WA State Government, State Library of Western Australia, and Better Beginnings.
