Byte-Size Beginnings: Technology Storytime - Embracing Stories

+ Add to calendar

13 October 2026

Dive in to a hands-on technology Storytime for children aged 3–5 years and their families at AH Bracks Library + Creative Space.

Discover how technology can inspire creativity, imagination, and storytelling while supporting your child's early learning. Each session explores a different interactive tech tool through stories, play, and creative activities that help build literacy, language, motor, and early STEAM skills.

Designed for parents and caregivers as well as children, Byte-Size Beginnings also demonstrates how digital technology can be a positive, purposeful part of family learning and provides ideas for choosing age-appropriate digital resources. Join us each week to explore, create, play, and learn together.

Week 1: Embracing Stories

Stories come to life in many different ways. In this session, families will explore Yoto and Tonie players as children listen to stories, then use recordable buttons to retell and create their own, developing language, imagination, and early literacy skills. Parents and caregivers will also discover how screen-free digital storytelling tools can support learning and nurture a love of reading at home.

Byte-Size Beginnings is a unique Storytime program that combines reading, singing, and hands-on technology-based learning through play, designed for families with children aged 3-5.

These sessions were made possible by the WA State Government, State Library of Western Australia, and Better Beginnings.
