Local Booragoon sporting clubs have got a boost, with upgraded changerooms at Karoonda Reserve supporting female participation.
The City of Melville’s upgraded changeroom works have included universal and gender neutral access to toilets, showers and change rooms, along with two extra storerooms and a new umpires’ room, which all align with the City’s goal of providing multipurpose facilities that encourage healthy lifestyles and wellbeing.
City of Melville Mayor Katy, Elected Members, Member for Tangney Sam Lim and sporting club members gathered at Karoonda Reserve to celebrate the completion of the project on Thursday, 11 June.
The Australian Government committed $100,000 through the Investing in Our Communities Program towards the $1.37 million project.
Karoonda Reserve is home to the Brentwood Karoonda Sporting Association, which includes sporting clubs such as Brentwood Booragoon Football Club. Bateman Junior Cricket Club and Tingara Netball Club.
