Project Information
Karoonda Reserve is home to the Brentwood Karoonda Sporting Association, which includes several sporting clubs such as junior and senior cricket and netball. The precinct is also used by casual community groups for activities like yoga and tai chi.
To cater for growing memberships and to meet current building standards, the existing facility is undergoing a major refurbishment and expansion. The City of Melville’s $1.37 million project, which began on 28 October 2025 and is expected to finish in April 2026, focuses on upgrading the changerooms and improving accessibility. Works include universal access to toilets, changerooms, and an umpires’ room, aligning with the City’s goal of providing multipurpose facilities that encourage healthy lifestyles and wellbeing.
The City received a contribution of $100,000 from the Australian Government grant under ‘investing in our communities’ program.
The refurbishment is part of the City’s Active Reserve Infrastructure Strategy and enhances one of the City’s important local facilities to meet the needs of female athletes and support the growth of local sporting clubs.
