The City of Melville is pleased to support Blue Gum Park Tennis Club’s efforts to adapt to climate change impacts through the installation of new solar system.

The solar system will significantly reduce ongoing electricity costs for the tennis club, freeing funds for them to spend on other programs and services.

The City of Melville is appreciative of $105,000 funding from the Australian Government for the project – with the City coordinating on-site works to ensure the system met the needs of club members and the broader community.

City of Melville Mayor Katy Mair, Elected Members and Chief Executive Officer Gail Bowman, Member for Tangney Sam Lim and Blue Gum Park Tennis Club representatives gathered on Wednesday, 10 June to celebrate the completion of the upgrades.

The project improves sustainability and energy efficiency of the club, supporting the City of Melville's and Federal Governments carbon reduction initiatives (net zero by 2050) while demonstrating leadership in renewable energy adoption in community sport facilities.

The City is actively working to reduce emissions across its infrastructure and is also educating the community to reduce emissions across its programs and services.
