Join artist Matt Aitken in Term 3 for eight weeks uncovering the stories of the river like a detective, using weaving, recording devices and drawing.

Join us for ART CLUB in Term Three, working with artist and educator Matt Aitken on a multi-sensory, multi-media exploration of the river's stories as part of the Melville Storylines festival.

This term it’s storylines time… but make it extra-terrestrial/extra-curricular! We’ll get into story-detective mode shape-shifting and code-switching across the five senses and beyond. Drift along the river breeze via a different lens each week… sunglasses, binoculars, VHS cam-corders, audio field recordings, CD mixtape listening exercises, disposable cameras, finger-knitting and blind-fold marble-drawing. Come explore stranger things, tactile strings, fact-find-ings, analogue windings and creative adventures. We’ll work towards a collective club outcome by the final week… let’s make a zine, write a theatre play, create a song-cycle… it’s storylines time.

There will be opportunity to showcase participants' work through the Melville Storylines program. All materials are provided.

Please note that this workshop is for people aged 8 - 12 years old.
