Our FREE Active in the Park classes are currently running and following current social distancing requirements.

Class Descriptions

Seniors participating in Active Light

Active Light

Basic, low impact moves for those starting out or wanting a simple, fun class.

Woman running at Functional Fitness

Functional Fitness

A variety of bodyweight and core exercises to strengthen and tone the entire body. Perfect for all ages!

  • Functional Fitness runs outdoors at Tompkins Park, near the Cunningham Street intersection. 
  • This class runs on Thursdays, 6.00pm to 6.45pm.
  • Classes resume on Thursday, 21 October 2021.
Young children participating in Tunes for Tots

Tunes For Tots

Dance, move, sing songs and have some fun with your little one. This class is suitable for children aged 2 years+.

  • The class runs at Point Walter (foreshore area) on the grassed area near the cafe.
  • This class runs on Wednesdays, 9.30am to 10.00am and runs in line with school terms.
  • Classes resume on Wednesday, 13 October 2021

Stretch and strengthen all parts of the body. Yoga helps improve posture, balance and flexibility. Don't forget to bring your Yoga mat. This class caters to all fitness levels, from beginners to seasoned Yogis.

  • Yoga runs outdoors at Point Walter (top) adjacent to the Tennis Courts. 
  • This class runs Saturdays, 7.15am to 8.00am.
  • Yoga classes will resume on Saturday, 16 October 2021.
  • Please bring your own yoga mat to class.

Information about inclement weather

Please note that classes will not run if the temperature exceeds 35°C, and they may be cancelled if it rains. For updates on class cancellations due to weather, please check the City’s Facebook page.

Keep an eye out for our Healthy Melville RoadStars at our Active in the Park sessions. They are happy to suggest fun and practical ways that you can improve your physical and mental health. You may also spy them at events, providing valuable health information to help the community hit their health and lifestyle goals.
