See all current changes to our facilities and services due to COVID-19 below.

We will endeavour to update this page as soon as possible when there are changes to Federal and State COVID-19 directives however this may take some time as we work through the impact of any changes. We thank you for your patience.

Current WA State Health and Social Measures

COVID-19 Restrictions at our Facilities

  • Masks, contact registers and proof of vaccination are not required at any of our facilities.
  • COVID-19 density and capacity limits have been removed from our facilities.
We still encourage all visitors to our facilities to:
  • Physically distance where possible (keep at least 1.5 metres or two arms lengths from each other), and if you can't, consider wearing a mask.
  • Practise good personal hygiene (wash hands often with soap and water, or hand sanitiser; cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or use your elbow).
  • Stay home if you are unwell and if you experience any COVID-19 symptoms, get tested immediately and follow testing and isolation guidelines.

Civic Centre and Operations Centre
  • The Civic Centre is open to the public.
  • The Operations Centre is open to the public.
  • Bookings are required for public access to the dog pound.
  • We encourage you to use our online services to make requests or do business with us.
Community Centres
LeisureFit Booragoon and LeisureFit Melville
AH Bracks, Bull Creek, Canning Bridge, Civic Square and Willagee Libraries
  • Our libraries are open to the public.
  • No restrictions currently apply.
  • Libraries can help you with setting up the ServiceWA app and your COVID-19 Digital Certificate on your device. Visit our Technology Training page for more information.
  • Library members can also access online resources such as eBooks, audiobooks, digital magazines, movies and more through our eLibrary.

Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre 
  • Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre is open to the public.
  • No restrictions currently apply when visiting Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre.
  • If you are attending an event, check-in with the event organiser regarding any restrictions they may be imposing. Facility hirers are responsible for ensuring their event complies with COVID-19 directives.
Playgrounds, Skate Parks, BBQs and Exercise Equipment
  • Our playgrounds, skate parks, barbeque facilities and exercise equipment are open. 
  • We encourage visitors to physically distance (1.5m) when possible and maintain good personal hygiene.

Agenda Briefing Forum
  • Agenda Briefing Forums are going ahead as scheduled and can be streamed live via Zoom or attended in person. Usual capacity limits apply.

Citizenship Ceremonies
  • In person citizenship ceremonies have recommenced
  • Citizenship ceremonies are continuing as scheduled, but with reduced capacity to allow for social distancing. For more information, see our citizenship page.
  • We are constantly re-evaluating and adjusting to the requirements for the COVID-19 situation to ensure the safety of the community and staff. For more information, see our citizenship page.
Council Meetings
  • Council Meetings are going ahead as scheduled and can be streamed live via Zoom or attended in person. Usual capacity limits apply.

Community Events
  • City-organised events are running as scheduled in-line with government directives.

Crossovers and Verge Bonds
  • Crossover construction and verge bond applications and inspections are continuing, although all applications must be done online.

Maintenance of City Facilities and Assets
  • Street sweeping services are continuing.
  • Maintenance and replacement of City assets services are continuing.
  • Graffiti removal services are continuing.

  • Our parks and natural areas are being maintained as normal.

Melville Volunteer Resource Centre
  • Our Melville Volunteer Resource Centre is available by email and phone to assist agencies with position advertising and potential volunteers, however a number of volunteering organisations are suspending volunteer recruitment because of the high risk of transmission to volunteers or the people they help.

Planning, Building and Health Requests and Applications
  • We encourage planning, building and health applications to be submitted online.
  • If you have any building, health or planning questions, contact us to speak to a member of our building, health or planning team. 
  • We are only conducting compliance inspections if the building is dangerous and officers can comply with the personal safety and health directives.​
Rangers and Community Safety Service (CSS)
  • Our rangers and Community Safety Service (CSS) are operating as normal.
  • To speak to our rangers or CSS, contact us.
  • Please note our rangers and CSS are unable to enforce COVID-19 directives. Please contact WA Police on 131 444 if you're concerned about individuals or businesses disobeying these directives. For more information, visit the WA Government website.
Swimming Pool Inspections
  • Swimming pool inspection services are operating as normal.
  • Owners/tenants need to complete a COVID-19 checklist when booking an inspection.

Bin Collections and Garden Organics Verge Collections
  • Residential waste collection is operating as normal.
  • Public bins are being emptied as normal.
  • Garden organics and bulk and whitegoods verge collections are continuing as scheduled.
  • Bin audit services are continuing as scheduled.
  • FOGO compostable caddy bin liners are available for collection from our facilities. 
Projects and Works
Due to the impacts of COVID-19 we are experiencing delays to some of our projects and works due to contractor and supplier shortages. We are actively working to through this and thank you for your patience.
