Running through to Saturday, 21 March 2026, this free and family-friendly concert series will bring ten afternoons of live music to five of Melville’s most scenic parks.
Each event promises a unique musical experience with a diverse lineup of local and visiting talent.
The series will kick off on the lawns of Atwell House & Gallery, nestled against the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) with crowd-favourite, the Bluegrass Bash. In what promises to be an energetic first performance, the Bluegrass Bash will bring returning homegrown talent Bluegrass Parkway together with The Knackered Ramblers, welcoming American musician Mike Compton to local stages, famed for his contribution to the Grammy Award-winning soundtrack for O Brother, Where Art Thou?
City of Melville Mayor Katy Mair said Melville Summer Music is all about celebrating community, culture and creativity in line with the City’s vision of a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive Melville.
“Over the past five years, Melville Summer Music has become more than just a concert series. Each event invites audiences to uncover their next favourite artist, explore new sounds, and reconnect with the beauty of their local parks.
“From bluegrass showdowns to soulful sunsets , it’s a celebration of creativity, community and the joy of finding something unexpected.
We’re excited to be celebrating five years of bringing incredible music to Melville’s parks.
“Melville Summer Music is a great example of how the City of Melville is providing inclusive local community events and cultural events activities.”
Mick O’Neill, banjo player and vocalist from Bluegrass Parkway, who will play their second concert at the series, commented that Melville Summer Music is the perfect way to unplug and connect with friends and family.
“Whether you are just looking for a relaxed summer evening in the park with picnic at hand or perhaps enjoying the great selection of music acts presented, Melville Summer Music is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening with family and friends. As both a performer and a regular visitor to the series I can thoroughly recommend turning off that TV and making your way to the nearest Melville Summer Music venue, you won't regret it.”
More widely, the Melville Summer Music program is overflowing with talented musicians from across the creative landscape. A dynamic and diverse lineup of musical talent is set to ignite the stage, featuring everything from soulful and stomping storytelling to electrifying rhythms.
Concertgoers can expect a vibrant atmosphere at each venue, with local food trucks serving up delicious food and a strong focus on sustainability and accessibility. The City encourages attendees to walk, ride or carpool to events.
From the riverside lawns of Atwell House to the mighty eucalypts of Yagan Mia Wireless Hill Park, Melville Summer Music will bring live music into Melville’s backyard.
Audiences are encouraged to pack a picnic blanket and tune into the rhythms of summer.
