The City of Melville's LeisureFit Recreation Centre's have been recognised on the national stage, claiming the 2026 AUSactive People’s Choice Large Business award.

The City received the award for the second time in three years in September following customer and member votes determining the winner, reflecting the strong support, loyalty and advocacy of the Melville community.

The AUSactive National Awards recognise exemplary exercise and active health practitioners from across Australia.

AUSactive is Australia’s peak body for the exercise and active health sector, representing over 22,000 members nationwide.

LeisureFit previously won the award in 2024 and has now secured the title again.

This recognition reflects the strong connection LeisureFit has built within the Melville community and the positive role the City's centres continue to play in supporting health, wellbeing, active lifestyles and social connection.

It also highlights the strong relationships the LeisureFit team has developed with members and visitors, whose support and enthusiasm were evident throughout the voting process.

In addition to winning the People's Choice Award, LeisureFit was also recognised as a finalist in the Leisure Centre of the Year and Multi-Service Business of the Year categories.

The City of Melville’s LeisureFit centres are popular health and fitness hubs, offering an innovative variety of fitness activities and active health facilities, tailored to different ages, abilities and interest groups in the City of Melville.

LeisureFit offers a diverse range of recreational and fitness programs tailored to the varied needs of the community with a commitment to making physical activity accessible to everyone.

Recent investment in LeisureFit facilities has included major upgrades at LeisureFit Booragoon's pools undergoing a major refurbishment including the Leisure Pool, 50m Pool, changing facilities and replacement of the air conditioning and ventilation systems.

Attribute the following comments to City of Melville Mayor Katy Mair:

“I’m so pleased that all the care and effort our LeisureFit team continues to invest in our community has been recognised again at the AUSactive National Awards,” said Mayor Mair.

"The award is a reflection of the dedication, professionalism and passion of the LeisureFit team, who create welcoming and inclusive environments and support thousands of members and visitors each year.

“What’s particularly gratifying about the People’s Choice award, is that this award is determined both by public voting numbers as well as the nomination submission.

"It's particularly special because it was driven by the support of our wonderful Melville community.

"Thank you to everyone who voted for our LeisureFit Centres, your support is very much appreciated.

"Our priority is to provide inclusive multipurpose places and facilities to encourage healthy lifestyles and wellbeing and our LeisureFit centres form a key part of that commitment for our community."
