City of Melville launches refreshed Community Grants Program

05 October 2026

The refreshed Community Grants Program is now open, with a focus on supporting local community groups, not-for-profit organisations, creative projects, local events and more.

The City of Melville’s refreshed Community Grants Program is now open, with a focus on supporting local community groups, not-for-profit organisations, creative projects, local events and more.

The refreshed program responds to community feedback and replaces a less coordinated approach where grants opened at different times with different criteria, making it easier for the community to understand what is available and when to apply.

The program will include two grant options: Quick Response Grants for smaller, time-sensitive initiatives ($200 - $1,000) and Competitive Round Grants ($1,000 - $10,000) for larger projects, events or initiatives with broader community benefit.

The Community Grants Program will support local ideas, projects, events and initiatives that help create a more vibrant, sustainable and inclusive Melville community.

Applications will need to align with at least one outcome area from the City’s Council Plan for the Future: Healthy, Safe and Inclusive; Clean and Green; Sustainable and Connected Development; or Vibrant and Prosperous.

The grants program will provide opportunities for a broad range of applicants, including community groups, schools, sporting clubs, small businesses, not-for-profit organisations, creative projects and local events.

The new program has been shaped by community feedback, with a clearer and more consistent structure to help our community navigate the process of applying for grants.

"It's great to see the grants program align with our Council Plan for the Future, with applications needing to relate to at least one of our outcome areas from the plan.
