The City is pleased to confirm an additional swing will be installed as part of the upcoming upgrades to John Dickenson Reserve in Bicton.
Following community voting and careful review during the procurement process, cost savings have allowed the City to retain two separate play areas within the reserve.
The most voted playground option (Option 4, pictured below) will be delivered and includes:
- a main combination play unit; and
- a set of traditional swings, all located within the fenced playground.
Additionally, a new basket swing will be installed in the separate swing pit, where the existing swings are currently located. This provides an extra play opportunity and supports social play for a range of ages.
This outcome reflects the feedback received during engagement, with most respondents expressing a preference for two play areas, while also supporting swings located safely within the fenced playground.
Construction is scheduled to commence in May/June.
