Plastic Free July 2020

Join us this Plastic Free July!

Next month we are committing to the Plastic Free July challenge, and would love you to join us and make a difference!

We understand that COVID-19 has made it more difficult to achieve a zero-waste lifestyle. For those times when you can’t avoid plastic packaging, remember to recycle your clean and dry soft plastics through the REDcycle bins in front of Coles and Woolworths.

Pledge now to reduce your use! Join 250 million people worldwide taking positive action to reduce waste and single-use plastics this July.

How to participate:

Helpful tip - Focus on the Four

If you're just starting out and want a simple approach, just concentrate on reducing and reusing these four plastics:

  1. Takeaway coffee cups
  2. Plastic shopping bags
  3. Plastic straws
  4. Plastic bottles

Promote your sustainable business!

The City of Melville is encouraging local small business owners to take part in an Instagram campaign based around promoting sustainability and your business.

Businesses that comment their sustainable practices may be asked to submit a photo showing how. This photo will be featured on the City of Melville's Instagram page (with more than 3,600 followers) and we will link your business Instagram page to give it a push!
