The Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre (PLEEC) is a venue available for hire by the local community and is a place for environmental education. We aim to promote environmental awareness, respect for Noongar Boodja and encourage positive behavioural change towards sustainable living practices.
Please note the Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre and the Piney Lakes Reserve access point from Leach Highway will be closed at various times throughout the Christmas holiday period as per the following schedule.

- RE-OPENING as of Monday, 4 January 2021 – (7.00am – 7.00pm weekdays, 7.00am – 5.00pm weekends)

Location
The PLEEC is situated within Piney Lakes Reserve, on the corner of Leach Highway and Murdoch Drive, Winthrop. Vehicle entry access to the PLEEC is via Leach Highway (west-bound only), between Murdoch Drive and Riseley Street.
Transport and Parking
Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre (PLEEC) is easily accessible using public transport as there are bus stops on both sides of Leach Highway adjacent to the PLEEC entrance. Regular services run from Bull Creek or Fremantle Train Station.
There is a large turning circle at the entrance to the building for easy access for private bus services. The main car-park has a 50 vehicle capacity and is a short walk from the PLEEC. There is one ACROD car-park available at the PLEEC entrance.
An alternative car park is accessible from Murdoch Drive and is located next to the Sensory Play Park. This is recommended for visitors who wish to use the walk trails through the reserve.
Venue Hire
Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre (PLEEC) has two function rooms and a grassed amphitheatre available to hire by the local community. The centre aims to minimise its impact on the local environment by using alternative sources of energy and reducing waste.
Hours
The centre is available for hire with staff support between 9.00am and 3.00pm, week-days. After those hours a closing and opening fee is charged for accessing the building.
Conditions of Hire
The centre is available for hire by local community and small business groups of all kinds. Due to limitations associated with toilets, parking and cleaning requirements we do not accommodate high impact social events with large numbers that generate excessive amounts of waste or noise such as 21st birthday celebrations etc.
All hirers of the venue must have appropriate Public Liability Insurance or complete a City of Melville Public Liability Disclaimer (if applicable).
