School Excursion Programs at EcoHub and Piney Lakes Reserve
We are not currently offering guided school programs at the City of Melville EcoHub.
We do still have the following resources which you are welcome to make use of on a self-guided excursion:
- Self-guided tour of Piney Lakes Reserve
- ClimateWatch Trail
- ClimateWatch allows every Australian to collect and record data that will help shape the country’s scientific response to climate change. Climate change is affecting rainfall and temperature across Australia, and is triggering changes in established flowering times, breeding cycles, migration movements and more.
- This trail at Piney Lakes has signs that spotlight local indicator species and encourages visitors to record their observations as they walk. Download the ClimateWatch app and record what you see.
- Piney Lakes StoryMap
- Created in collaboration with the Parks and Wildlife Service WA, the Piney Lakes Reserve StoryMap allows you to discover the beauty of the Banksia woodlands and paperbark wetlands. The StoryMap includes ten stop points with information about plants and animals and supporting photos.
- Orienteering Courses
If you do decide to visit Piney Lakes Reserve for an excursion please make sure to contact our
customer relations team first to enquire about reserve availability and lodge a reserve booking application. This is to avoid clashes with incompatible activities or maintenance works.
In the future we hope to provide more workshops aimed at teachers. If you would be interested in such workshops please email us at
ecohub@melville.wa.gov.au to let us know if there are any particular areas or topics (within sustainability and environment) that you would be interested in learning more about and what format (day/time/length) would work best for you.
