Group Sessions

Our small group sessions are ideal for beginners. We offer a range of topics available in class sizes of four, including but not limited to:

  • Basic Internet Safety
  • Introduction to iPads and iPhones
  • Introduction to Android Tablets and Smartphones
  • Social Media - including Facebook
  • Gumtree
  • Ancestry.com
  • Downloading eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines

Be Connected

There’s Never Been a Better Time to Get Online

City of Melville Libraries are now Be Connected Network Partners. Be Connected is a free Australian Government initiative aimed at increasing the confidence, skills and online safety of older Australians when they use the internet and everyday technology. We can help you sign up to access Be Connected’s online learning resources, plus we’ll be offering in-person support so you can develop your digital skills and confidence.

Be Connected sessions are free to attend, bookings are essential. 

We'll help you get signed up to the Be Connected website, and offer in-person support for your queries relating to the internet and technology.

Dates: One hour sessions available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

  • Be Connected Six Week Course (in Mandarin)

Please note this course will be taught in Mandarin language. Come along to our free fun and social six week course. We’ll run a discussion on a different topic each week.

Digital Springboard

Digital Skills to Help You Take Your Next Step

Digital Springboard is a program by Infoxchange and Google to help people learn the digital skills they need to thrive in work and life. The courses are relaxed, informative and designed to help grow digital knowledge and skills. City of Melville Libraries are Digital Springboard delivery partners.

These sessions are ideal for those who are already comfortable using digital tools and the internet and who are looking to grow their skills.

Digital Springboard sessions are free to attend, bookings are essential. Throughout the year, we'll be running a session on a different topic each month. We are currently focusing on skills for work. 

  • Digital Springboard: Skills for Work - Build a CV

This course is for people who want to build their CV from scratch or just want to refresh their existing one. It covers the key components of a CV and how to speak about strengths and skills. This course is for everyone, regardless of experience writing a CV or applying for jobs.

Dates: Monday 24 February, 2020
Time: 2.00pm to 4.00pm

Virtual Reality at the Library

If you could go anywhere in the world (or beyond!) – where would you go?

Curious about virtual reality (VR)? Book into a free session at AH Bracks Library + Creative Space and try out our Oculus Quest VR headset.

VR sessions are free to attend, bookings are essential. You are welcome to bring a friend, but be aware that you will need to take turns using the VR headset.

Upcoming Virtual Reality Sessions

  • Half Hour VR Sessions

New in February! Try our Oculus Quest VR headset. There are a number of VR experiences to choose from, and you will be supported by a library staff member throughout the session.

Time: Half hour sessions available from 9.00am to 11.00am, Tuesdays in February

Computer and Internet Training at Willagee Community Centre

The Willagee Community Centre offers a number of technology training sessions, including:

  • Six Week Computer Courses - $30/six weeks
  • Open Access Computer sessions (drop in) - Gold coin donation
  • iPad Sessions - $5/session
  • Mobile Phone Sessions - $5/session
