Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre is now known as the City of Melville EcoHub!
Join Amy from My Nonna Life, a passionate gardener and cook, as she shares her journey of embracing her inner Nonna and preserving homegrown food. In this live cooking demo of three recipes, you’ll have the chance to taste and sample her creations while learning how to make the most of summer produce and your garden’s bounty.
In this hands on practical demonstration Amy will be preserving summer ingredients using different methods and techniques including:
- tomatoes (preparing for bottling and water bath/process for shelf storage)
- cucumbers (pickled and water bathed for shelf storage)
- stonefruit (made into jam and water bathed for shelf storage.
Amy has a wealth of information to share regarding buying and picking produce, variety suitability, variations to recipes, how to store/consume which will be provided during the demonstration as well as all questions answered. After the demonstration, you’ll have the opportunity to taste test all the dishes prepared, and enjoy complimentary sides.
Come get inspired and take these techniques back to your own kitchen!
