Free E-Waste and Recycling Drop Off for Residents of the City of Melville.

City of Melville residents can drop off their unwanted electronic goods, bulk recycling and some Household Hazardous Waste items at any one of the drop off days. Please ensure you bring proof of residence.


  • E-Waste: computers, printers, TV’s, mobile phones, smoke detectors and other electrical devices
  • Bulk recyclables: cardboard, paper, plastic bottles and containers, glass bottles and containers, steel and aluminium cans. You can even bring in your recycling bin on a trailer, but please note, no recycling in bags will be accepted.
  • Polystyrene
  • Smoke detectors
  • X-rays
  • Batteries (household, car and boat)
  • Waste motor oil (max. 5 litres)
  • Some Household Hazardous Waste items including:
    • Aerosols and spray cans
    • Gas cylinders
    • Household light globes & fluorescent tubes
    • Paint
    • Printer cartridges


  • General waste
  • Non-recyclable items
  • Recycling from commercial properties
  • Household Hazardous Waste items including:
    • acids and alkalis
    • engine coolants
    • fire extinguishers (red only)
    • flares
    • household cleaners
    • pesticides/herbicides
    • pool chemicals
    • unknown chemicals
