Did you know, Australia produces approx. 75,000 tonnes of ground coffee waste per year!? If this ends up in landfill, it contributes to climate change significantly through the production of methane — a greenhouse gas said to be 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Donut Waste
is on a mission to change this, by creating a sustainable and circular economy in WA by reusing resources that would otherwise end up in landfills!
In this workshop, participants will learn how to make their own plastic-free deodorant and body scrub from reused coffee grounds. This 2-hour hands-on workshop introduces the idea of homemade skincare products as a natural, environmental and cost-effective alternative to buying pre-packaged products. The workshop includes a presentation about the materials used, good practices, and where to locally and sustainably source products.
Participants will take home two of their own products: deodorant, and body scrub. There will be demos of four additional products – spritzer, body cream, face mask & massage oil. Please note: each participant is required to BYO clean glass jar for their body scrub, ideally 250ml with a wide opening.
