Barry Nicholls has written about sport for more than 35 years. His speciality is cricket in the 1970s, although his work encompasses biography, memoir and non fiction narrative. While he likes to acknowledge well known players he often focuses on bringing the 'lesser lights' out of the shadows.
Playing to Win: Australia and the 1972 Ashes tracks a historic tour of England that heralded the arrival of a star burst of talent taking Australia to the top, eventually leading to the establishment of World Series Cricket. And thus the game was forever changed. The book is rich in detail covering on and off field events.
