About ART PLAY
Discover a world of fun when you visit Goolugatup Heathcote Gallery this summer, with a new program designed to engage young creatives and little art lovers along with their families in creative sensory play and artful activities. ART PLAY | TILT edition is a creative learning experience designed in collaboration with exhibition artists Anna Louise Richardson and Abdul-Rahman Abdullah - unpack a basket of materials and activities, explore themes and materials inspired by the exhibition, and work through at your own pace whilst exploring the gorgeous grounds of Goolugatup Heathcote. ART PLAY baskets cost $5 and are available from the Goolugatup Heathcote Gallery reception for the duration of Anna and Abdul-Rahman's exhibition, SHELTER.

How to take part in ART PLAY
  • Visit the Goolugatup Heathcote Gallery reception desk during opening hours – Tuesday to Sunday 10.00am to 4.00pm
  • Pay $15 to Goolugatup staff to collect your basket (EFTPOS only) – when you return your basket to reception, you will be refunded $10 (EFTPOS)
  • Take your basket out to the gorgeous grounds of Goolugatup Heathcote and play to your heart’s content
  • Don’t forget to visit the gallery to be inspired by Anna Louise Richardson and Abdul-Rahman Abdullah’s magnificent exhibition SHELTER

About SHELTER
In this family friendly exhibition, SHELTER envisions Goolugatup as a junction between land, sky and water, a site of refuge in the heart of the city. Focusing on the Silver Gull and Welcome Swallow, two endemic bird species that thrive in the contested spaces created by human proximity, SHELTER will immerse you in a shared experience of communal life spilling through the built, natural and imagined environments that describe home. Together, Anna and Abdul-Rahman weave a narrative that both questions and affirms our role in a world shared with the life, love and death of so many. The instinct to belong is an act of survival that embeds us within the natural world as yet another organism seeking refuge in each other. If the birds are home, so are we.
