The City of Melville has coordinated the You're Welcome - AccessWA Initiative locally.
You're Welcome was developed by the Disability Services Commission (DSC) in partnership with the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) to provide clear information about access to local facilities and amenities to people of all ages and abilities living in or visiting the locality.
You're Welcome - AccessWA Objectives
The two main objectives of You're Welcome - AccessWA are to:
- Provide accurate easy to obtain information so that people with disabilities, their families and carers are able to access their local communities
- Enable people with disabilities, their families and carers to participate in community life by encouraging businesses and community organisations to make their services and facilities more accessible.
Accessible Facilities and Amenities
The following is a list of facilities across the City of Melville that are included in the You're Welcome - AccessWA initiative. You can also view this information graphically by selecting the 'Access Information' module on the City's online maps.
In addition, the Department of Transport has provided a range of information to support and assist the community in matters relating to accessibility. An accessible environment is particularly relevant for people with a disability but also benefits a broader range of people including many seniors.
