Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still apply to the Community Partnership Fund? No, My Community Grants has replaced the Community Partnership Fund.
My organisation runs an annual event. Can we still get funding? Applicants wishing to run annual events will need to commit to reduced funding over three years. For example if you receive $5,000 for the first year, in your second year application, you will need to demonstrate that you have sourced funding from other sources, and require less funding than you did in the previous year. Likewise, in the third year you will be eligible for a reduced amount again compared to year two. The purpose of this is so that the City of Melville can continue to fund new projects, new organisations and new ideas, while at the same time supporting organisations to build sustainability into their events and programs.
Do I need to include the GST in my budget? If you are registered for GST, provide your expenses without GST. We will add 10% to your total grant.
If you are not registered for GST, we will not add GST to your total budget. You need to use GST inclusive amounts in your budget, otherwise you will be out of pocket the GST component of the cost.
GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a 10% tax added to most goods and services consumed in Australia.
Can I get free venue hire from the City of Melville? If your project includes the use of a City of Melville facility, you can apply for a non-monetary grant. This grant enables in-kind support from the City of Melville in the form of venue hire, reserve hire, or the supply of extra rubbish bins. Non-monetary grants can be used in conjunction with other grants, or on their own. See above for more details and to apply.
What is the difference between an incorporated group and an unincorporated group? Incorporation is a process whereby a not for profit organisation can apply to become its own legal entity. An incorporated group has legal responsibilities and must follow its organisational rules, or constitution, in order to be accountable to its members.
More information can be found at the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.
Can I ask Elected Members about my application? It's important to know that you can't talk to Elected Members about your application to try and influence the process. This is called canvassing and is prohibited.
Can a City officer or Elected Member be my reference? Elected Members and City officers cannot act as reference as this could be an actual or perceived conflict of interest.
It is highly recommended that you contact the program coordinator to discuss your project prior to applying. Should you require assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to the team. If you have a disability and find our application process inaccessible, please contact us for assistance or alternative application methods.
