Canning Bridge Place Grants 2023-2024 recipients

The recipients of the second Canning Bridge Place Grants program have been announced.
 
Seven shopfront improvement and activation grants were approved, for a total of more than $120,000 to support place improvements to be facilitated by local businesses and the community in the Canning Bridge Activity Centre.
 
Canning Bridge Place Grants are reinvesting parking funds generated from the Canning Bridge Activity Centre for the benefit of all who live, work and visit the area that encourage a safer, more active and vibrant community and business precinct.

Acting Out Loud - Canning Bridge Grant Recipient 2023-2024
Applicant: WA French Festival Inc

Project Name: Acting Out Loud

Summary: Acting Out Loud is a meetup for French play readings, on this occasion it will be hosting a series of readings of LE VISITEUR by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt held at the Canning Bridge Community Space.

Grant Amount: $5,495 plus GST

Applicant: Olive Cheng Art

Project Name: Mural on Good Grocer Canning Bridge and Workshop for Kids

Summary: Perth artist Olive Cheng has designed and installed a native Australian botanical mural on the back of Good Grocer Canning Bridge, Kintail Road. Once the mural was complete, Olive held an art workshop for students at Applecross Primary School, to celebrate the mural and invite children to take part in a hands-on creative activity celebrating the theme of the mural.

Grant Amount: $8,015 plus GST

Pharmacy 777
Applicant: Pharmacy 777 Canning Bridge

Project Name: Pharmacy 777 Canning Bridge Lights! Signs! Action!

Summary: Pharmacy 777 Canning Bridge will soon have new external illuminated signage. This will benefit the community by informing visitors, workers and residents in the area to the location of their local Pharmacy within the Canning Bridge precinct.

Grant Amount: $15,542 plus GST

Applicant: Rowing WA

Project Name: Rowing for All

Summary: Rowing WA is adding signage to the side of the Rowing WA building. They have chosen an elevated location for the illuminated signage to make it more easily viewable from as many directions of pedestrians and vehicles as possible.

Grant Amount: $7,743 plus GST

Applicant: WestCycle Incorporated

Project Name: Canning Bridge Scavenger Ride

Summary: WestCycle organised a scavenger ride held on Saturday, July 20, from 2-5pm. It was a successful event offering an engaging activity for cyclists of all ages to have fun along the foreshore shared paths.

Grant Amount:  $16,010 plus GST: $16,010 plus GST

Applicant: Academic Group

Project Name: Exterior Revitalisation Project

Summary: Located on the corner of Canning Highway and Jane Road the Academic Group is set to enhance their building with an exterior revitalization project, including new seating, planter boxes, balcony murals, a little library, bike parking, and CCTV. This will create a more welcoming space for everyone.

Grant Amount:  $22,074 plus GST

Applicant: Mr David Ledger

Project Name: Mural

Summary: Professional artist, David Ledger is bringing a vibrant mural installation to 2 Sleat Rd, Applecross. This project features a large-scale mural, enhancing the area by making it more vibrant. The mural will feature local wildlife and celebrate the culture of the area. Through the conversion of a bare wall into a lively mural, it will establish a welcoming ambiance, promoting pedestrian activity.

Grant Amount:  $24,385 plus GST
