Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for both a My Community Grant and a Canning Bridge Place Grant?
Yes, you can, as long as they are for different projects/events. If your application is for capacity building, training, costs of becoming incorporated, building a website, etc. the My Community Grants program would be more suitable.

Why are these grants only for the Canning Bridge Activity Centre Place?
The funds for these grants have come from the Canning Bridge - Parking Management Reserve which receives 50% of parking income from parking managed by the City within the centre. The idea of this new grants program is to return the funds to the place that the parking income has been generated from for place improvements.

Do I need to include the GST in my budget?
If you are registered for GST, provide your expenses without GST. We will add 10% to your total grant.

If you are not registered for GST, we will not add GST to your total budget.  You need to use GST inclusive amounts in your budget, otherwise you will be out of pocket the GST component of the cost.

Can I get free venue hire from the City of Melville?
If your proposal includes the use of a City of Melville facility, you can apply for a non-monetary grant.  This grant enables in-kind support from the us in the form of venue hire, reserve hire, or the supply of extra rubbish bins. Non-monetary grants can be used in conjunction with other grants, or on their own. See the My Community Grants program page for further information.

What if we don’t have public liability insurance?
You will need to source your own public liability insurance. You can include the cost in your application.
