Report Minor and Serious Breach

If you have any reasonable basis to suspect serious or minor misconduct by an individual elected member or employee of the City of Melville, such as fraud, the information below may assist in guiding you to an appropriate agency.

Relevant agencies have the necessary powers and authority to investigate and make properly informed and considered findings about alleged or suspected misconduct by individual elected members or employees of a local government and to do so in accordance with the rules of natural justice.

Elected Members

Suspected Minor Breach

Where you have reason to believe that an elected member has contravened the Local Government (Rules of Conduct) Regulations 2007

The complaint must be on the approved Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries form and lodged with the City of Melville, marked to the attention of the “Minor Breach Complaints Officer” (Director Corporate Services) who will send it to the Local Government Standards Panel.

Suspected Serious Breach

Where you have reason to believe that an elected member has contravened certain sections of the Local Government Act 1995

The matter may be reported to and dealt with by the Director General of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

Suspected Serious Misconduct

Where you have reason to believe that an elected member engages in corruption or commits a serious offence
