City of Melville Councillor Tomas Fitzgerald confirms resignation

City of Melville Councillor Tomas Fitzgerald has announced his resignation.

City of Melville Councillor Tomas Fitzgerald has announced his resignation effective immediately.
 
Former Cr Fitzgerald has represented the Palmyra-Melville-Willagee Ward since 2019 and has advocated for social issues such as responding to the impacts of climate change, during his tenure.
 
Former Cr Fitzgerald’s term of office was until 2027, but due to the timing when formal advertising of vacant positions were required, his position will not be filled at the upcoming October 2025 local government elections.
 
An extraordinary election will need to be held and the City of Melville is working with the WA Electoral Commission on the timing of this election.
