The City of Melville’s LeisureFit Booragoon has been transformed into a modern, contemporary and accessible new swimming facility following a $11.5 million major refurbishment.
After 23 years of operation, the centre’s upgrade has included the refurbishment of the leisure pool, 50 metre pool, changing facilities and replacement of the air conditioning and ventilation systems.
The City opened the doors at LeisureFit Booragoon with free entry for the community on Monday, 20 January to celebrate and experience the upgraded facilities for themselves.
The refurbishment was completed in two stages, starting in late October 2023, with all other facilities at LeisureFit Booragoon remaining open during construction.
Upgrades to the leisure pool include a dedicated toddlers play area, accessible ramp access, on deck showers and dry change rooms, and a separate warm water pool for rehabilitation, seniors, and baby programs.
The refurbishments to the 50 metre pool include the replacement of pool tiles, accessible ramp access, and on-deck showers.
Improved acoustics have created a quieter pool environment and upgrades to the air handling systems have improved air quality.
