Nominations now open for the Auspire Citizen of the Year Awards

29 August 2025

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Auspire Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

Do you know someone whose dedication, passion, and hard work make our community a better place? Now is your chance to celebrate them.

The Auspire Community Citizen of the Year Awards recognise the remarkable individuals, groups, and events that contribute to the wellbeing, connection, and vibrancy of our community. From inspiring leaders to quiet achievers, these awards shine a light on those who give their time, skills, and heart to help others.

Why these awards matter

Each year, the awards highlight the stories of people making a real difference. In 2025, Emma Charlton received the Community Citizen of the Year award for her tireless commitment to sustainability. Through her initiative Bottle Top Hill, Emma has prevented tonnes of waste from reaching landfill while championing biodiversity, ecosystems, and the circular economy.

Other 2025 winners included:

  • Melville Youth Steering Group – recipients of the Active Citizenship (Group or Event) award for improving accessibility for young people and helping them stay informed, engaged, and connected.

  • Mike Nichol – awarded Senior Citizen of the Year for over 40 years of advocacy to protect the Attadale Foreshore.

These inspiring examples show that community impact comes in many forms - from local projects and environmental action to long-term volunteer service and grassroots events.

How you can get involved

There are four award categories:

  • Community Citizen of the Year

  • Senior Community Citizen of the Year (65 years and over)

  • Youth Community Citizen of the Year (under 30 years)

  • Active Citizenship (Group or Event)

Whether it’s a neighbour who lends a hand without hesitation, a young person driving positive change, a senior who inspires through service, or a group that brings people together - your nomination can help ensure their contribution is recognised.

Nominations close Thursday, 31 October 2025, and winners will be announced in January 2026.

Nominate now.
