The City of Melville is inviting the community to have its say on the second round of engagement for the Moreau Mews Town Square.

In line with the City of Melville’s objective of creating vibrant and activated spaces, the City is inviting the community to have its say on the second round of engagement for the Moreau Mews Town Square, an important future public open space in the heart of Canning Bridge.

The first round of engagement in late 2024 focused on the community’s aspirations and ideas ahead of public open space and streetscape improvements for the 50-52 Kishorn Road and 23, 29 and 31 Moreau Mews sites in Applecross.

In this second round the City has developed three concepts for the community to have its say on.

The three concepts show how these ideas could be developed in the new town square.

They range from ones that can be developed now with green space and space for activation and events, to a fully aspirational and longer-term vision that integrates with surrounding buildings as they are developed.

The designs are artist impressions and will be further refined through the next stage of design development.

The City’s aim is to develop a vibrant and prosperous new town square public open space in the heart of the Canning Bridge precinct, transforming the area into a green, welcoming space where the community can relax, engage in leisure activities, and connect with one another.

In addition to an online engagement page, the community can drop by the onsite 'Drop-In Zone' during April at 50-52 Kishorn Road, Applecross to have an in-person conversation with City staff and explore the concepts and ideas firsthand.

Feedback received through this final stage of engagement will help inform the final concept that will be presented to Council in June.

Comments attributed to City of Melville Mayor Katy Mair:

“The second round of engagement for the Moreau Mews Town Square highlights the City of Melville’s commitment to progressing the work to convert the City-owned land at 50-52 Kishorn Road and 23-27, 29 and 31 Moreau Mews in Applecross into public open space,” said Mayor Mair.

“We want vibrant and activated local places and spaces and given this location sits in the heart of the Canning Bridge precinct, we want it to be a space where the community can relax, engage in leisure activities, and connect with one another.

“This engagement is a great opportunity for the community to review the concept designs and have their say about how they want to use this area.

“Your feedback is crucial to ensure the design reflects the needs and aspirations of our community, as we work on the final design for the Moreau Mews Town Square.”
