The City of Melville mourns the loss of former Town Clerk Ralph Fardon OAM who recently passed away.
Ralph was Town Clerk (now Chief Executive Officer) of the City between January 1976 to January 1986.
He then served as the CEO of the City of Stirling until 1990 before serving as Secretary/Manager of the Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) from July 1990 and subsequently as CEO of the MRC from April 1991 until January 1998.
He was MRC's second CEO and it was under his leadership that the Tamala Park waste management facility first began receiving and managing household waste on behalf of member councils, in 1991.
Ralph was recognised for his outstanding Public Service and Community involvement with the Medal of the Order of Australia award in the Australia Day Honours List 2007.
The award recognised Ralph’s service to local government and to the community through church, service and aged care organizations.He was a pillar of the local government community and his commitment to the sector was reflected in his numerous roles and achievements.
The City of Melville extends its deepest condolences to Ralph’s family during this difficult time.
